a pause for tending—an open letter to my community
on stepping back to rest, listen, and realign my creative practice

note: this letter was originally shared on /rōot/ by dimple dhabalia and is being shared here as well, as the /rōoted/ leader is also entering a creative pause. I’ll share more soon about how these two threads will come together in the months ahead.
dear friends,
I wanted to share that I’ll be stepping back from regular writing and social media through August. As much as I love writing, producing two thoughtful essays each week takes significant time and energy—and right now, I need that space to focus on building the infrastructure to support what’s emerging.
For months, I’ve felt a pull to realign my creative practice with deeper truths I’ve been circling for years. I’m ready to immerse more fully in the work that is calling to me, and to build a life that honors both my soul and my survival. I feel myself stretching in new directions, and I know that much of what I’m creating now needs space to grow and take shape before it’s ready to be shared.
I’ve been nervous about announcing this pause—worried that it might interrupt the momentum we’ve built together since last November. But I also know that creating a sustainable rhythm requires intentional pauses. This work can’t be rushed. It asks for presence, for spaciousness, for the kind of attention that’s hard to access when you’re caught in a constant cycle of production.
During this time, I’ve unlocked the entire archive for everyone—an open invitation to revisit or explore freely. If you’re new here, or returning after time away, I hope you’ll find something in the collection that meets you where you are.
If you’re a paid subscriber, thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting this work. Your subscription will be paused while I’m away and will resume when I return—no time lost.
As excited as I am about what comes next, I also look forward to using this moment to catch my breath and rest. Right now, my plan is to return in September, though I’m holding that timeline gently and will share an update if anything shifts.
I’m deeply grateful for this community and for the privilege of writing to you each week. I’m excited for what’s on the horizon and look forward to sharing more soon.
Until then, I’m wishing you rest, spaciousness, and care.
In solidarity + gratitude,
